My name is Deandra. I am a Black woman who would like to break down stereotypes about mental health and educate my community. I want to provide psychoeducation and dispute the idea that if someone is seeking help, i.e. going to therapy, they must be crazy. Mariska Hargitay said, “Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.” I want to be a part of the mental healing process, providing those in need of mental health care with adequate assistance. I have spent years trying to force myself into a career that was not a fit for me. Counselling Psychology speak directly to who I am.

Therapy uses many aspects of ourselves in order to find the wisdom to come back to our physical bodies.

Brian is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Brian’s lived experiences with intensive meditation training, addiction recovery, and first career in corporate communications inform his clinical work.

Brian fosters a safe therapeutic environment for clients struggling with mood, relationships and school/work-related stress. While he helps clients connect with their experience in the present moment, Brian’s approach is very much trauma-informed and psychodynamic. He seeks to provide clients with the room they need to explore how their past may be overwhelming their present.

Meeting the client where they are at, Brian engenders a supportive space, providing clients the opportunity to encounter the emotions and long-standing narratives that keep them stuck in repetitive disempowering cycles of behaviour and thought. Setting an empathic, yet structured tone to each session, Brian is able to guide those seeking resolution toward discovering their own solutions. Brian has found that by helping clients build a deeper awareness of their mind-body connection, they develop greater self-regulation, a healthier sense of self and more satisfying interpersonal relationships.

Brian has served in the military and is married with 4 step-children, a baby boy, and a cocker spaniel.
